Weekly Updates 7.24.23

Ah, summer.

I know residency just started for a lot of you. Would you all like a post about succeeding in residency? If so, send me a quick email with any questions you have.

Something I’ve been thinking a lot about lately is the assumptions we make about people. We make a lot of judgments at work, in our friend groups, at our churches, at our schools ... .what I’ve learned is that if we really get to know people, we are all more alike than different. That value that you think they don’t have? Don’t judge someone until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes. Girls and women like to gossip, it’s part of how we bond. A lot of times, I think we talk without thinking just to have something to say and connect over. Let’s be creative and rise above petty gossip - there are much more interesting things to talk about!

Quote that I’m holding on to this week: “Meditation is a surrender, it is not a demand. It is not forcing your way. It is relaxing into the way existence wants you to be. It is a let-go.” - Osho. Whatever your form of meditation use it to rediscover your inner landscape  and examine the self-limiting beliefs that are standing in the way of your success.

What I’m Reading:

I just finished Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. I have to be honest, about one-fourth into the book, I was ready to put it down and sit on it for a while. Because my reading time is almost non-existent, I have no shame in abandoning a book if it doesn’t grab my attention. I am SO glad that I continued. This book is an absolute gem. I loved it so much and the addition of chemistry metaphors to life was exquisite.

What I’m listening to:

I’ve been listening to the podcast Smartless on my daily walks. I just love those guys so much - they are so funny. I probably look like a buffoon laughing while walking down the street, but it’s worth it! Because of the climate at work, etc…., I just am taking a personal growth break and choosing something a bit more light-hearted.

What I’m buying:

My sunscreen game continues to be strong.  With daily camps and trips to the pool, we go through a lot!

I bought a scale. Time for me to get serious about losing the last ten pounds and weighing myself daily is one way that I am able to see progress and keep going.

The Nordstrom Sale is here and I picked up a jacket, some sunglasses and loads of skincare. Some of my favorite skincare products are here

I also love this palette

I just stocked up on all of my favorite Pure Fiji products. The scrubs and lotions are amazing and the scents are perfect for summer. The coconut and guava are my favorite! Use code PHARM20 for 20% off!

I also just re-purchased my magnesium supplement by Moon Juice. I go through about one container every 3 months. Use code PHARMACISTSGUIDE15 for 15% off!

My friend just gifted me this Welle protein powder
