Why You Need To Incorporate Coffee Berry Into Your Skincare Routine

One of our favorite questions ever - what do you like in your coffee? It’s an instant vibe filled with warmth, coziness and connection (and a potential coffee date!) Most of us can easily roll off our coffee order to our local barista, but have you ever thought about using coffee beans in skincare? Coffee grounds, oil and even extract are starting to pop up in more and more beauty products and for good reason!

One of the main reasons this ingredient is such a powerhouse is that coffee contains caffeine, a vasoconstrictor which can make work at tightening our pores. It is also high in flavonoids and carotenoids and can help protect your skin from free radicals, those harmful environmental pollutants that trigger inflammation.

Coffee berry extract may be the most potent of the natural antioxidants due to its high levels of polyphenols and phenolic acids. Why does it have such powerful antioxidant properties? The plants grow in high altitudes close to the equator, where the sun’s rays are very strong. Because of this, the plant creates the natural antioxidants to protect itself from the extreme conditions it grows in. As a result, the coffee berry extract in fabulous at treating fine lines, wrinkles and cellular damage to skin, while reducing the appearance of existing fine lines, sun damage and other visible signs of aging. This ingredient also has an anti-inflammatory effect on skin, which can be helpful for those with eczema or dermatitis.
